Trail Reports

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

December 22, 2017 at 3:29pm

Snow covered wishes for a wonderful holiday season and the best of the New Year.

There is a Vermont state wide snow warning for Sat.  This may very well be a white Christmas.  Stay tuned for our trail updates.

NOTE:  A reminder that our trails are closed as is our neighboring clubs EZ Riders and Wardsboro Pathfinders.  We ask that you respect our landowners.

EZ riders reported an incident of snowmobilers opening a closed gate that the landowner had closed because some were riding even though trails were closed.

DVSJ had an incident reported to our board members of snowmobilers riding over the golf greens at Mount Snow Golf Course.  Seriously?  Why would snowmobilers want to destroy greens that can cost $20,000-$40,000?

Trail Report: 12/15/17

December 15, 2017 at 9:53pm

Heard from our “FAB Groomers” on Friday 12/15/17.  They SAID – NEED MORE SNOW!.

Track packed Hogback and pushed trees – track packed to Sommerset and pushed trees – all took 13 hours! These guys are awesome for the magic they work!

Hopefully can track pack Chimney Hill on Saturday 12/16/17.

They said “need another 6-8 inches of snow to getthe drag out!”

Our Fab Trail Master’s report:

While the Valley got 12+inches of snow, we need more to build the base for the best riding conditions.  Future predictions may bring more heavy wet snow.  In the meantime the decision has been made to keep the trails closed.  Riding is not recommended.

Stay tuned for updates

Last Chair Trail improvement!!!

Thank you Gary Urbinati. The Last Chair Access Trail has been designed to have a more gentle slope with no distracting trees! Great job by Gary and his sidekick Dan Urbinati.  So Pray for SNOW!!!

OK Snowmobilers!  Start your engines. Our FAB groomer is out DRAGGING  and heading to Sommerset – says “trails are coming out pretty nice”.   The Higher elevations in the DVSJ area got about 10 inches and lower maybe 5-6 inches, but with a lot of sleet throughout last night.  Ride with care.

Our neighbor EZ Rider’s trails are closed.  Wardsboro trails have been closed  as of 3/21 with no update.  As of 3/31 Woodford Snobusters are saying their trails are opened.   Snow conditions are wet and heavy BUT GROOMERS most likely will not run.

Look for updates as we get any reports from our members who will ride today.

YES SNOWMOBILERS’.  This isn’t an April fool’s joke.  We hope the great snow continues as predicted through to Sat. 5 p.m.!!

If we get over 12″ of snow the groomer will be out track packing early Sat. morning.  The higher elevations are getting more snow. Some have reported as of 6:00 p.m. Friday, the lower areas near the Sitzmark have about 4 inches of snow.  The trail from C7-100 Kiosk heading North to Sommerset has about 6-8″.  So keep the fingers crossed.

Sat. 3/25/17 Trails are closed

Sorry snowmobilers – its just to thin out there !

Believe it snowmobilers.  Our fab groomers worked their magic from the Sitzmark to Somerset last night and it’s actually pretty decent.   They tried to groom to Hogback and the conditions had a lot of bare spots and exposed rocks.  To access the North trail Chimney Hill is rideable but very thin.  The Windy Hill trail is not rideable.  Ride with caution as trails depend on the weather in the next few days.

Hope all you snowmobilers got out to ride this past weekend.  It was beautiful and great!  The groomers did an outstanding job.  Late Sat. afternoon the trails were well on the way to a beaten path, but our groomers worked their magic to get the trails back in descent shape by Sunday.

Currently the trails are getting thin but the temps are predicted below freezing again in the next few days……. so stay tuned for any updates.

Get out and enjoy the trails while you can.
