Greetings ALL! 4 inches of snow fell yesterday followed by a bit of rain. Chimney Hill and Hog Back are good. Grooming Somerset North tonight. More snow is expected on Thurs from Niko Storm. The grooming schedule will be determined by the amount of snow and we will update then.
All trails have been groomed as scheduled. Reports on Wed. and Thurs. are good to excellent. Groomers have been out.
DVSJ trails are open – The ‘Noreaster storm’ brought 6+ inches of wet snow with an inch of sleet ice on top. Groomers went north, and south and west trails not yet done. Ride with caution because of open water bars and exposed rocks. PLEASE STAY ON MARKED TRAILS.
Sorry snowmobilers. The trails are closed once again due to the warm weather and rain. Hoping for the predicted snow Mon-Tues.!!
Sorry snowmobiliers –
We received only 4-6 inches of wet snow and no way enough to even track pack!! The groomers are out checking the trails. Any change to the trails will be posted ASAP.
Due to the last two days of warm weather and rain it is necessary to close DVSJ trails. The trails will remain closed until we get a significant snow.
The warm temps and rain gave way to dangerous ice, with exposed rocks, bare areas, and open water bars. The Hathaway trail 100F-3 North to Somerset is not recommended. 100 S to Hogback is very rough. The groomers could not go out – not much loose snow to even find to gather into the trails. It’s hard to even keep your sled cool and tracks lubricated. Watch out for overheating!
The status of our neighboring snowmobile clubs.
As of 1/1/17 – Wardsboro Pathfinders. 710 Trail CLOSED.
As of 1/5/17 – Woodford Snobusters. – Expect open water bars, thin spots, exposed rocks with ice conditions. The higher elevations have heavy icing on trees.
As of 1/5/17 – EZ riders Jacksonville CLub. – There are open water bars and bare spots. The crew went out Wed. night pulling snow where possible. Need more snow!
Do that snow dance. Let’s keep our fingers crossed for what Helena Winter Storm might bring this weekend!!!
